Wendigo – The Hunger in the Pines

Wendigo: They say the silence in the deep North Woods is peaceful. That’s a lie. The silence up here, twenty miles past the last plowed road in northern Minnesota, isn’t empty. It’s heavy. It watches you.

I came up here to shoot the aurora borealis. I needed the isolation to get the perfect timelapse. Just me, my camera gear, and a tiny, off-grid cabin buried in three feet of fresh powder. The first two nights were fine. Just cold—the kind of bone-deep cold that makes the pine trees pop like gunshots in the middle of the night.

It started on day three.
